Orner Family Had Reunion
Annual Reunion Held at the Old Homestead in Strongstown
The Orner Family Reunion
Association held its annual outing at the Orner homestead in Strongstown, Indiana County, where almost 200 relatives
spent a most enjoyable time. Some 60 of those in attendance here bear the name
Orner, including the Rev. T. P. Orner, of the United Brethren Church, Altoona,
who was one of the principal speakers. Other relatives present were Mrs. Nancy
Orner Volk and her two daughters, of David City, Nebraska. A party of 15 from
Johnstown participated in the festivities. H. W. Orner, of Dubois was present
with the Leslie Male Quartet, of which he is manager. Attorney Robert E. Cresswell,
of Johnstown, responded to the address of welcome made by D. J. Orner. A. D.
Orner, of Dubois, discussed the Orner family tree, bringing out the fact that
the Orners were driven out of Germany to England
early in the 16th century, for some reason not ascertained. From
England they were sent to the colony of New Jersey and from there they have
spread to various parts of Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Iowa. The officers of the
association were re-elected. They are: President, R. D. Orner, of 207 1-2
Market St., Johnstown; Vice-President A. D. Orner, of DuBois;
Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. W. G. Bracken, of Indiana,
Regrets were read from a number of relatives living in Nebraska and distant parts of this state.
