      The descendants of Martin Arner, one of the four organizers of Nescopeck township back in 1792, gathered at the old Daniel Arner homestead near Zenith, in Nescopeck township, in their first annual reunion. Preparations were begun for the reunion but a week ago and notwithstanding the short notice 84 persons were in attendance. Organization was effected by the electing the following officers:  President, Clyde Ketcham, Weatherly; vice president, Leroy Smethers, Corning, N. Y.; secretary, Roger Arner, Berwick; corresponding secretary, Ada Arner, Havelock, Neb.; treasurer, H. J. Arner, Nescopeck township; historian, Mrs. S. D. Rinker, Weatherly; executive committee, Mrs. Henry Houck, Mifflinville; Mrs. Frank Richards, Lansford; Irene Arner, Nescopeck.

      The next reunion of the Arner family in 1914 will be held at the home of Henry J. Arner, near Wapwallopen.

One of the first Settlers

      Martin Arner, the first member of the family to settle in this section, was one of the four organizers of Nescopeck township, the other men being, Jacob Smethers, Jacob Shover and Jacob Sieberling. Mr. Arner settled in Nescopeck township in 1791.

Family Dinner Served

      Those in attendance enjoyed a dinner at the old homestead that included all the delicacies of the season, following which an interesting program was rendered, with interest family history forming the greater part.

      The following program was given: History of the Arner family from Martin Arner, one of the organizers of Nescopeck township, down to Daniel Arner, his grandson, Roger Arner; Daniel Arner's children by Samuel Arner, history of grandchildren of Daniel Arner, 48 in number, by Henry Arner; history of great-grandchildren, 83 in number, of Daniel Arner by Mrs. S. D. Rinker; summary of the Arner Family history by S. D. Rinker, of Weatherly.
